Diana looked around as she walked through the ruins, a pensive and wary frown on her face. She didn't like this. This planet, this place . . . the whole area reeked of death and destruction, something Diana had seen her fill of. Besides, all those columns and fallen structures were perfect hiding places for enemies. This was an ideal place for an ambush, and here she was, out in the open, a sitting duck.
Her eyes scanning the area, her ears alert for any tell-tale sounds of attackers, Diana turned slightly to her fellow soldier. "Keep a sharp eye out, we're far too exposed and far too blind out here," 'And far too clueless,' she thought. There was still much they didn't know about this planet, and that only added to her unease.

Proteus was a man of very few words, prefering to analyze every situation he faced with uttermost care and pragmatism. He was not too keen on being sent to explore the piece of rock they had landed in, but as a good soldier, he obeyed his orders without a question. The fact that this female recruit was sent with him added to his certainty everything would go according to plan. Both were skilled and intelligent, for which there was little reason to be afraid. He needed to think like that to keep his composure.
"If there would be any enemy lurking in to attack us, it would have taken the approach of isolating us sooner. I do not think we are in risk of being attacked. Not yet, at least." he whispered, his waryness still making him be careful in spite of the safety he felt. He had his hand close enough to his dagger and gun, should the need arise.

Diana nodded. Proteus' logic was sound, but it did not help the unease she felt. Not until they had searched every inch of this place and made certain there were no hostile creatures lurking about.
"Still, keep an eye out. We don't want to walk into a trap or get caught by surprise," she said as she looked around. "Besides, some of these structures look ready to fall down any second, and I don't want to spend my day digging myself out of rock," she stated as she looked around. Maybe there was something useful here, something that would give important insight into this planet and its people. An old tablet or a book or something . . .

Halting as he reached a large wall, Proteus looked at Diana with a stern expression, nodding to aknowledge her line of thought that, even though not the one he'd accept, he still respected. Turning his head to stare at the foundation, he passed his fingers on the walls before putting them near his nose to smell it and then slightly brush his tongue over them. Looking at Diana he turned to her, even though he remained there.
"There is salt in these rocks. Perhaps we are in an old salt mine. Those are very often when near sea based towns. If such is the case, we can expect these inhabitants to be keen in the art of sailing and fishing." Proteus speculated, passing his hand on his chin while he thought, trying to formulate a clear line of thought. "How a salt mine is connected to their former houses still raises an important question to me...why would the population live so close such unstable rock foundations? Perhaps it was a safer place? Or maybe a strategic point to enclose their enemies in? It is strange..."
Turning to the wall once again, he clenched his fist to slow and softly hit the rocky structure, his ear pressed to it until he frowned and sighed. "No fake walls or anything. In this phase they were highly primitive, for what it seems."

Gantu needed some time to explore. He knew that he should probably stay with the ship, but even he needed to stretch his legs. He decided to follow Proteus and Diana, seeing how they were two of the more loyal and efficient members. And what an interesting place this is, he thought, looking at his surroundings.

Asami had spent the last couple of hours wandering around the dusty grounds. There were still a few tall rocks up, the resistant ones. She thanked God for that because she wanted to stay invisible. She heard a few noises and she knew there were people around and she just hoped that the old walls could hide her for a while, until she was prepared to go back to the ship and rest for a while. The last thing she wanted was to get in trouble at that point. Unnecessary trouble.

Diana frowned. "Salt mines . . . ?" she looked around and crouched down, taking some of the dirt between her fingers, squinting at it. Having grown up on a mine, she was familiar with identifying soils and rock. Proteus was right, there was salt in it.
"Perhaps that explains whoever was here left. The mining left the ground unstable for all these large structures," she theorized, standing up and dusting off her pants.
Diana suddenly spun around when she heard feet on the ground, pulling her gun out of her holster and pointing it at where the sound came from, frowning when she saw it was Asami and Gantu.
"What are you two doing here?" she asked, lowering her gun slightly.
(*blinks at Ami* O.O Oh dang . . . )

Looking around, Proteus stopped when he noticed two crew members, Asami and Gantu, had moved near them. Gantu was kind of a pleasant view, since he was a respected member of his hierarchy. Asami Sato, on the other hand, remained more of a mystery, as he was still wanting to be certain on whether he should trust her or not. She seemed capable, but one never knew...
"We should avoid causing such ruckus and noise, though." he murmured, walking next to Diana, looking around, still having an uneasy feeling. "You never know what'll pop out from the darkness..."

Diana nodded in agreement with Proteus, crossing her arms and frowning at Gantu and Asami. "I have no problem with you wishing to join us scouting, but next time, join us at the start so you don't cause a commotion and alert enemies to our location, or cause one of us to accidentally injure you because we thought you were a hostile creature sneaking up on us," she said firmly before turning back to observing her surroundings.
"You two may join us, as you're already here, but at least try to act like you know the meaning of the word silence," she instructed.

Asami popped her head from behind the fragile wall she was hidden by and sighed seeing a few familiar faces. She walked by them and put away her gun with a not very friendly smile on her face as she looked at Diana by the corner of her eye. "For someone who know the meaning of the world 'silence' you sure talk a lot, don't you Cap?" she put an unpleasant tone on the last word and looked at Proteus before she kept walking, minding her own business.

Gantu nodded. Understandable," he replied, walking with the two. "This place looks strange enough to keep me on my toes."

Diana frowned at Asami. She'd have to talk to her about that talking back later. But unfortunately, the girl was right. Diana was talking far too much, and she needed to stay focused.
"Just start scouting for anything useful," she instructed Asami before turning to Gantu and nodding her head.
"It's unfamiliar territory, you should be on your toes," she murmured before starting to examine the outside of the building.
